Cute YouTube Review of Glori!

I recently heard from a reader named Julissa who has her own YouTube channel in which she reviews books. Check out her review of Glori. It's sweet. :)

When's The Last Time You Exercised Faith?

Last week our Mantra was on the importance of faith. I asked folks on Facebook and Twitter about the last time they exercised faith and this is what I got back:

"Just last week I was trying to figure out how I would get more clothes and diapers for my daughter. Then Sunday, a church member gave me a month's supply of diapers and wipes. The next day I received a big bag of clothes and shoes. Because of my faith, I got exactly what I needed." -- Martha A. Williams, MD

In life there are going to be setbacks. Believing in the possibilities of tomorrow help us overcome anything.

Monday Morning Mantra - 2/22

Happy Tuesday!

Yes, yesterday's Mantra was sent a little late. Please blame it on a chaotic day at home with Naya!

Nevertheless, this week's Mantra is on friends because this past weekend I spent a lot of time catching up with my buddies. I went to my friend, Kia's, bridal shower on Saturday and reminisced about all of the crazy times we've shared over the years, and then on Sunday I met my good friends Wura and Vicki for Ethiopian (delish!). Although it was a non-stop, crazy weekend, when I drove home on Sunday, I thought about how I have some really awesome people in my life. They are so encouraging and so positive, and they are so vital to my progress.

So this week's Mantra echoes that sentiment:

"Life is partly what we make it, and partly what is made by the friends we choose." -- Tennessee Williams
This week, think about how the people you surround yourself with either help or hinder you in reaching your goals.

Monday Morning Mantra - 2/15

Hi all!
I almost forgot it was Monday considering the holiday and the snow and the fact that my daughter hasn't been to school in a whole week!

I chose a Mantra on faith this week because I'm about to embark on a major, new project (can't wait to tell you about it!), and I am realizing just how much faith is required. I also feel like all of us - in so many areas of our lives - are in need of faith. Whether we're trying to figure out how we're going to pay the bills this month or we feel there aren't enough hours in the day to go to class, work, and study, we could all use a reminder about what faith is really about.

"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Who better to tell us about faith than Martin Luther King, Jr., whom we celebrate this month along with countless others who risked everything for equal rights for all?

This week step out on faith toward your dreams.

Tips for Not Wasting Time

Our mantra last week was about not wasting time. Imagine all of the things you could achieve if you got down to business! I asked some of my Facebook friends how they stay on top of things, and I heard back from Sherese Seevers who said, "Make a to-do list." Great advice Sherese! This is also one of my tried-and-true practices. It keeps me on task all day long. If it weren't for my to-do list, I'd be LOST!

Snow and Babies

Please forgive me! I have not posted a Mantra in two weeks! But I have a good excuse for this week, I promise.

For those of you who don't live in the D.C. Metro area, we were blind sighted by a huge blizzard last weekend, and it didn't end until last night. Four feet of snow! So schools have been closed, and my husband hasn't been to work at all week! Also on Monday I was a labor coach for my good friend, Kendria, who gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Mason (I'm in love!). So I had my hands full! :)

Just wanted to give you an update, and tell you that all is well. I hope you've had a wonderful week and I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day on Sunday. My friend, Kim, posted a recent pic of my hubby, Donte, and I on Facebook so I thought I'd post it here in celebration of love...

Love,
Nicole
